Our Story: How Vial Safe® Was Born to Protect Insulin Vials
In 2010, my dad decided he'd had enough.
He'd been living with diabetes for over 30 years, and one problem just never went away: dropping and breaking his insulin vials. They're slippery. He'd broken more than he could count, rushing to work, traveling, pulling one out of the fridge, or just dealing with hands that got shakier as he got older. Sometimes there was no reason at all. Just gravity. Each broken vial meant wasted insulin, wasted money, and one more reminder of how fragile something so important could be.
So he started tinkering. Not in a lab, just at home, working the problem the way someone does when they've lived it long enough to know exactly what needs fixing. What he came up with was a silicone sleeve that holds your vial securely, cushions a drop, and stays out of the way of your needle and label. He called it Vial Safe, and he made it hoping other people wouldn't have to deal with what he'd been dealing with for decades.
Pretty amazing, right? I thought so too.
I'm Stacy Caine, and carrying on what my dad built has been one of the greatest honors of my life. Since then, Vial Safe has found its way to hundreds of thousands of people living with diabetes. We're sold on Amazon, through the HSA Store, and at specialty diabetes retailers. We even made a version for dogs and cats on insulin, because broken vials are just as frustrating for pet owners.
